Glen, get use to it. The "newbies" know nothing.. accoding to some, they are a downfall to the business. There are those who keep referring to the "professionals", many of these guys were born adjusters and never went through the "newbie" phase. There are many wonderful "experienced" adjusters who come to this site that ARE professionals. A professional is somewho who knows how to properly handel themselves, knows the "when to's and when not to's" of the business, and are not afraid of the new comers into their profesional. A professional will help, share and train those who have come after them. Many who scream " professionals" need to look at their attitudes... and realize, They Were Not Born With Adjusting Knowledge" even THEY were NEWBIES AT ONE TIME. Just remember, there are more "good guys" who come to this site than butts. |

Unfortunately, some "newbies" are more "newbie" than others. Some of the worst are a danger to themselves and to insureds. As soon as you have to do reinspections or take over some of the files handled by these "newbies" you will understand. |

The key for "newbies" is education, education, education. Chuck is right....some of the "newbies" we have seen on storm and their claim files which some of us have to "clean up" and reinspect are just beyond belief in incompetence. Get all the training and education you can, and if you are in catastrophe adjusting for more than a quick buck, you will succeed. For any "newbies" out there, please feel free to email me with any questions you may have. I once was a "newbie" and haven't forgotten the people who helped me. To help others is the way we pay back those who helped us. |

I have in process a few pages of my ideas on CAT and Temporary adjusting, companies, equipment, pay, work hours, lodging, certification, licenses, etc. it is still in the beta stage, but I will email it to anybody who is serious about attempting a career as a CAT or temporary adjuster. Just email me and I will contact you. I don't think I am willing to share my advice and experience for free. |
