These Bulletins have been transfered from the Bulletin Board. They are a good example of how we can use a network like ours.

Hey Shipwreck
DAMN FINE JOB you are doing down there at GROUND ZERO. I am sure our friends on the West Coast are getting a kick out of your descriptions (everyone else may be asleep).
Just a shame we don't have weather "spotters" up in Manteo and over in Fayetteville.
PLEASE keep us updated. YOU are the 1st EVER CADO HURRICANE CORRESPONDENT on the COAST giving it to us as it happens!

1:30 AM EST UPDATE
Picking up slightly higher winds here in Greensboro to 25 mph with gusts to perhaps 30-35 mph. Initial inland damage projections will not happen as anticipated due to eastward shift of Floyd.
Floyd shift to the East is going to change this storm from a "Hugo" to a "Bertha" with very little damage West of the Wilson to Fayetteville areas. NC television is reporting mostly flood damage to this point.
Based on my observations of NC hurricanes, this storm is NOT going to create the damage claims that were first projected.
I would advise checking with your standby companies before initiating any travel plans to NC. Number of adjusters needed here is less than 1/2 of what was projected and this will be a 3 week or less storm for MOST adjusters.

Update from Greensboro, NC (10:15 PM)
All airline flights into NC from Greensboro east to the coast have been cancelled until at least tomorrow lunchtime. If you had planned on flying into NC tomorrow AM then check with your airline.
The "nature" of Hurricane Floyd is changing and thus, the damages may not be what was projected earlier. Keep your eyes on CNN & The Weather Channel (Adjuster's Channel) for the latest. Floyd was thought to be following a "Hugo path" but is now shifting slightly to the East.
Winds in Greensboro at 20-25 mph right now with gusts to 35 mph. We are 300 miles from the coast.
Brad and I will keep you posted throughout the evening and night (as long as we don't lose power) on the ground conditions here in NC. I am monitoring central NC television stations and emergency radio traffic.
Good Luck to all.

10pm Wilmington/Carolina Beach NC update. Well as expected the winds are beginning to increase now. Also it is raining harder than it was at the time of my last post. Winds are currently gusting to about 45-50mph with about a 35mph sustained wind speed. Sure wish I could see the ocean or at least the sound but there is a curfew for the entire county. The roof is still on the house and the power is still on (thank goodness, I hate losing the air conditioning :) Will keep you posted.

8:20pm update on Wilmingtion/Carolina Beach weather. Currently winds are down to about 20mph sustained with gusts up to 30-35mph. We appear to have been between "bands" for the last 30-40 minutes but are expecting it to begin to pick up again within the hour. Rain is light to moderate at this time. Suspect (based on past storms here) that this rain is going to cause a lot of downed trees when the hurricane force winds arrive. Will keep you posted.

BRAD, Thanks a million for the Wilmington weather update. Looks like you guys are going to get the eye through there later tonight.
Please keep us posted with updates throughout the evening and night (well till you go to sleep).
If there is anyone else close to the coast with storm reports, they would be informative and helpful to all of us.
Good Luck Brad and may God protect you, your family, your property, and all the others who are in harm's way.

Just to update all of you with some "on the scene" weather (Wednesday 3:30 PM), here in Greensboro, NC some 300+ miles inland, we are getting more intensive rains and are now picking up 10-20 MPH winds from the leading edge of Hurricane Floyd. The winds and rain are predicted to increase as the evening progresses. Just imagine what is going to happen to those much closer and between here and the coast.

Bulletin
For those of you in locations other than the southeastern US, just a note of update. The leading edge rains from Hurricane Floyd started hitting here in Greensboro, NC this morning around 7 AM. This is going to be another "HUGO like" storm event. There are going to be adjusters scattered all the way from the landfall impact area all the way up through the Carolinas and perhaps further. This is one hell of a storm and it is going to cause massive damages here in the South.
Finish packing your bags, maintain your perspective, and keep your "cool." The insureds are going to be in a state of shock and the devastation is going to create chaos. We, as professional adjusters can lend a calming presence by maintaining our composure and keeping our "cool."
Good Luck to all and have a safe trip here to join us!
