MARCH IS A GREAT MONTH FOR WORKING HAIL. HAS ANY THOUGHT BEEN GIVEN TO DECEMBER OR JANUARY? IF WE ARE WORKING, WE PROBABLY COULD NOT ATTEND. ALSO, VEGAS IS PROBABLY THE CHEAPEST PLACE TO FLY INTO. |

A convention sounds great. I live in San Antonio and I can help set something up here if needed. March is usually really nice weather (60 to 80 degrees during a 24 hr. period). The riverwalk is a fun place to be. I'll watch for the results for time and location. |

Although I don't doubt that Mr. Sloane is not extremely competant in his previous career, I'm not sure he has ever attended anything like a vendor's seminar,(maybe fattened up a little) We don't nomally graduate anyone,,,,or have floral arrangements,,,,,or have formal ceremonies???? We mostly just shake some hands, gather a little knowledge, tighten up some friendships, maybe see what new products are available etc, etc. I don't think i'm going to need the floral arrangments. |

Ladies and Gentlemen, I was heartened to read the previous postings about a CADO group meeting being tentatively placed on the calendar for 2001 and not just sort of "off the cuff" so to speak. Please allow me to extrapolate. In a former career I worked for the State of Texas at Texas State Technical College-Waco/Marshall as an administrator. Part of my duties were the planning, budgeting and implementing of on campus technical events, spring commencement held at the Baylor U. Ferrell Center for 1500-2000 people every May and 3 other smaller graduation ceremonies from 150-350 people. These events included arranging speakers, all printing, floral, technical (ie.-computers, overheads)and refreshments. The May commencement took almost 10 months to plan/arrange. For a 3 hour ceremony! And this was with some extremely competent help. I do not honestly believe that $200 a person would quite cover the cost to host an event of the magnitude I see people discussing. Even with an attendance of 200. You never get a second chance to make a good first impression. Secondly, I am not real clear on what Roy wants CADO to be and that is paramount since it is his creation. Plain and simple he owns it. It now stands as a first rate clearinghouse of information for Catastrophe Adjusters. What is the theme for this meeting? This might be a good time to start mulling over that question because it will affect the entire focus of the meeting/convention itself. Anyway that's my take on this. Sorry it took me so long to post this, Jim/Roy my side trip took a little longer due to some family considerations. |

Janice and I will attend, regardless of location. That will give us a year to plan for one heck of a convention. I might suggest that a number of cities be put on a selection poll that are centrally located in the US and see what the poll presents. A committee needs to be formed now to start working on the project. Roy cannot do it himself. I am sure he would appreciate volunteers with experience in the area on putting conventions together. That kind of experience would enhance the probability of a stand out convention. It is nice to see this kind of response. I hope the ball is not dropped on the Group Hospitalization Plan for members and other coverage that Flynt has indicated CADO was working on. |

Will definitely attend. Being on the west coast, I like the idea of choosing a location where airfares will be competetive. Not the only criteria however...good to keep in mind locations that will insure the best attendance, weather conditions etc. Thanks to all for their efforts on behalf of us new to the industry. |

I'm in for a convention assuming there would be enough education/training/new product info etc. How about including a golf outing one day also? Always a good way to meet new folks and a good outlet for vendors to sponser holes, door prizes etc... |

Count me in. Next March would work good and should give enough time to plan a complete and worthwhile program and still be the slow season for storms. I'd vote for any city with Southwest Air service since that will guarantee competitive rates for any airline into the location. Nashville or Louisville are both central and also have good interstate hiway connections too, but Louisville would be the best since I live here . Let's get to work on it, I'll help any way I can. I'd be glad to assist by providing Hail Damage Assessment Training also http://www.benchmark-services.com |

I don't see how Florida could have been the first choice in this "poll" ???? Not exactly central location,,,,most distant from everywhere else???? Whatever????? Was this poll by secret ballot??? |

Yes, I'm there. Believe it or not, the St. Louis area really doesn't get a lot of snow in March. Anywhere is good. |

My vote is for Memphis ( Beale street) , or Nashville. They are central for about everybody, those of us from north of the "line" have to drive too. |

The eary part of 2001 would suit me fine for a CADO Convention. The location is of little consequence as I have no idea where I'll be at that time. Could be anywhere from Key West to north of Seattle. |

better make it early in march- don't want to have a hail stornm come along ahead of any convention. actually, middle or late february would probably work better for me, but march would do. i'd go with san antonio, as it's centrally located and far enough south so that there shouldn't be any winter weather problems. plus great tex-mex food like you yankes never get and the river walk. if we timed it right, we could get in there during Fiesta Flambou, which is a very good time. |

I would like to attend a CADO convention. Might I suggest Florida if the convention is to be held in the winter months. Several great locations, & the weather is usually great in winter. |

Jim, A separate poll was taken over the period of several months. The overwhelming vote was for a convention/seminar in FL in the early part of the year. Second was the Gulf Coast and Nashville, TN. The basics are the costs of the Airfare & Hotel and Exibitor space availability. It must be accessible from any area of the country. I will be pleased to offer up some input, any assistance requested or required, when it is put together, and will if at all possible attend. |

I could live with a years notice. March is a good month but if San Antonio is the place that will do also. ONLY 300 miles from home as is Dallas, Austin etc. St.Louis could be tough because of snow storms in March. Just something to think about, Winter storms in the northern states. When it is decided as to where and when then better plans can be made. |

Hawkins Research would be interested in attending a CADO convention and renting a booth. Does anyone know the upfront money Roy would need to get a place and promote it? In the mean time I will try to attend the informal CADO meetings that time/cost will permit. |

Jim i think that is a sufficient amount of lead time and the $200.00 fee is resonable and since i live 50 miles from SAN ANTONIO well I WOULD SHOW UP. GUYS I AM NEW TO THIS WEB SITE BUT IT SURE IS ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS THAT I GO TO AFTER I CHECK MY MAIL... HELLO TO STORM-PRO,AND YES I REALLY DID ENJOY PHILLY. |

It's a GO by me. How about San Antonio, Texas. Good Mexican food and mild climate anytime except in the summer. We'ed being working then anyhow. Good sites away from downtown area are cheaper and better parking. |

If you would be interested in attending a 4 day CADO Convention planned ahead for March 2001 with concurrent speakers and topics, exhibitor's space for adjusting software and other products, with an attendance cost of $200.00 or less, to be held in a central location such as St Louis, Denver or somewhere in between, with a possible NFIP certifcation and seminar simultaneously, as well as possible carrier certifications as well, then please post a note of your interest here. Envisioned would be a larger group of Members being involved in helping Roy to plan this, and CADO being able to send out a detailed written mailer late this year to interested parties, CADO Members, CADO Sponsors and Exhibitors. If you would be interested in attending a CADO Convention one year from now as described above, please post here to help us measure our reader interest in a more well planned event. |
