Tom Toll, your post is good for any person traveling the circle of life. Received my work comp check. My check for 100.00 in the mail. I have no young family to care for, and my needs or very simple. The good 'luck and blessings of the Creator' were with me during and after my fall to a concrete driveway. The vendor I was contracted with had comp in place. They deserve credit (although nameless at this time as am I) for their willingness to participate in a comp. They have been most gracious and are simply trying to apply the policy (as we do on a property claim) relative to the comp. Glen's fair postings to try and see the vendors' difficulties as well as our own, gave me the full determination to handle any other misunderstandings with patience and calm negotiations. The vendor owners are not always aware of all decisions by a staff member under them. The owners of my particular vendor company are truly good and honest people, and is their total staff. I have been most regretful for all the inconveniences my fall has created for other people, prefer to be as independent as possible. Sometimes due to duress and striving to do the best they can for their employer, any of us can make a less than perfect decision. In pain, and fearful of my own future due to my injuries, I was not at all times in the beginning of my injury, of as courteous, calmer frame of mind as now that potential recovery appears possible. --------------------------------------- I say all of this because I believe Glen Garoutte's and Tom Toll's posts. With truly honorble intentions, all difficulties can be delt with. -------------------------------------------- Everone's patience will be appreciated, I would like to add a little quote that fits with the golden rule for me daily, and I believe in death. Believing that life and death is a journey under the Creator's omnipotence. "For me there is only the traveling on paths that have heart, on any path that may have heart. There I travel, and the only worthwhile challenge is to traverse its full length. And there I travel, looking, looking, breathlessly."-don Juan (discussing his search for knowledge and wisdom) ----------------------------------- God's continued blessings with Glen Garoutte and his family. ------------------------------------------- After 2nd surgery coming up, possibly, I can assist Vince with some of the paper detail work. I will advise him with my check. ------------------------------------------- Wishing to remain anonymous with this post and any effort I can contribute to help both Glen's family, and Allen's. ----------------------------------------- Thanks for all who care for our fellow men/women. PS: I guess all of this verbage was triggered by the hospital's request that I consider completing a living will and directive pertaining to the need today to have someone to make life support decisions for me in case I cannot. What a heavy burden to place on loved ones or friends. My prayers and respect to Mrs. Garoutte's love for husband, and courage. |

"In honor and memory of Glenn Garoutte" "The ADJUSTER " As I awaken with the gift of yet another day and prepare for the tasks at hand, I offer up these most ardent wishes. I wish for continued clarity of purpose so I may hold my vision and thought steady and keep focusing on the needs and success of others, which in turn will bring me my success. I wish for wisdom to expect abundance for my efforts in my everyday work, for if my product abounds of sincerity and the correct desire, abundance should not be shameless. I wish for a cheerful countenance, be it clear of cloudy skies and that I may radiate and infect others with my fairness and positive attitude. I wish for the trust of others, that they will recognize my sincerity and true intentions, so we may move forward together, for together as one will we succeed. I wish the courage to carry forth my convictions during the battle of business and to resist temptation to a quicker monetary result when such temptation compromises those things for which I stand. I wish to retain my childhood wonder, as I realize it was as a child that all problems had a resolve. I wish for a infinite supply of self-confidence, for it alone fortifies faith, strengthens my character and conquers the largest enemy that I face, that of fear. I wish for a compassionate and giving spirit and the patience to offer those who seek my advice and help, my full and undivided attention. I wish that today be a day of excellence and that at its conclusion I can acknowledge and be grateful for the forward motion I have made and the growth I have experienced. I wish most of all for the support of those closest to my heart and soul, that of my family and that they will understand the passion for the long hours that equate my desire to serve, for I am an adjuster, one who is expected to know all and see all. Chuck, your number evaluation is correct. Janice and I have mailed a $100.00 check to Nancy through his good friend, Vince Tabor. Thank you Vince for caring enough to take action on the behalf of Glen's family. Our condolences go to Nancy and daughter for this loss. Family and friends is really all we have in this world. Obviously Glen had many, something many cannot claim to. I hereby challenge all adjusters to help this family in need. Give them your support by sending a card and certainly a contribution. Do it now, not later. Time is precious and the offer of love is everlasting. Bless the family and all Glen's friends. |

It deeply sadens me to hear about Glen. I pray for Glens family that they will find comfort in Jesus Christ. In times like these we see how fragile life really is. We often forget out love ones and shortchange the ones that really matter. I did not personally know Glen but I hear that he was one of those adjusters that made a differance. Do not let Glens death be in vain. Lets spend more time with our families. Get up right now and give your Son, Daughter or Spouse a hug and tell them you love them. Ok I'M Back Also Let's seek reform for our industry regarding safety, benefits and continual training. We need to organize I am not taking about the U word but I feel we need to combine our collective efforts and promote change in this industry. |

It occurs to me that if a thousand storm adjusters sent Glen's wife a check for $100...... Well you do the math. Will some one, in the know, post a mailing address. As soon as I receive mailing information my check will be in the mail. |

Glen Garoutte went to be with the Lord at 10:00PM today:::: After consultation with the attending MD, Nancy Garoutte requested the life support systems be disconnected and Glen was allowed to pass away. Glen had sustained extremely severe head injuries after falling 20 feet from roof ridge onto a concrete patio and landing on his head. Folks, Glen DID NOT have any hospital insurance and you all know the working conditions these past few months. The family will need all the support they can get in all forms, monitary, prayer and sympathy. I have asked CADO staff to review formulating a memorial fund for Glen's family (Nancy and daughter Angela). Glen was one of the most family oriented individuals I have ever met making this tragedy even harder on his family and those around him who loved and cherished his presence. May GOD bring peace and understanding to the Garoutte family and friends. |

Glen Garoutte passed away tonight around 9:30 PM in a Northern Virginia hospital from injuries sustained in a roofing fall accident earlier today. On behalf of all of us in the CADO family we are deeply shocked and saddened at the news and our thoughts and prayers are with Glen's wife, family, friends, and associates. |

Friday 6:58 PM Mountain Time: RE Glen Garoutte.. I just talked to George Mullett, who has been holding Glen's hand since he was admitted to the ER. George said if Glen passes on, I want it to be with a friend at his side. BOY am I glad to have George for a friend and so is Glen. Glen's wife, Nancy, landed at DC airport and is on the way to the hospital. Situation is basically the same, Glen is deteriorating. I have received a lot of Email from a wonderful bunch of adjusters, sorry I have not been able to answer each of your inquiry, hope this will answer your questions. The hospital will not give out information on Glen and this will probably have to be the source for a few days. Glen's address is; Glen & Nancy Garoutte 1503 SanSaba Dallas, TX 75218 (Garland area) There will be a fund set-up for Glen in the next few days, I am leaving Phoenix for Dallas Sunday. A few words of praise for Vince Tabor, who drove to Dallas and went door to door trying to find information on how to contact Nancy Garoutte to tell her about the accident. If anyone knows how to or has set-up a fund please Email me. I do not know how to handle this. Roy, Jim, Dave, thanks for your support, Glen always had the kindest of words for you. Let's all pray, GOD can work a miracle, we need one. |

This is a tragic reminder of just how dangerous our jobs can be. Never take a dangerous situation like walking on a roof for granted and always put safety first. I worked Fairfax County myself back at the begining of that hail storm and the roofs there are a bear to say the least. My prayers are with Glen & his family. Please let us know if a fund will be set up for Glen. |

Friday 1:20PM ::: Just talked to the ER Doctor who is attending Glen. Dr. said he will try and keep Glen alive long enough for his wife to fly from Dallas to Fairfax County. Glen has a good friend George Mullett sitting by his bed holding his hand. George refuses to leave his bedside. Needless to say, Glen's wife, Nancy, is extremely upset and emotional. We have attempted to round up some local texas adjusters to help Nancy with her travel plans and have found individuals to meet her at DC airport and take her to hospital. We all need to say as many prayers as we can at this time Glen's fate is in the Lords hands. Will try and keep all interested up to date... |

A Post on the CADO Bulletin Board a few minutes ago by John Durham informs us that Glen Garoutte fell this morning from a 20 foot roof up in Fairfax County, Virginia. He landed on his head and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. John says his recovery is doubtful. Glen some months ago brought to our attention the accidental fall of another adjuster during Hurricane Floyd and asked for our prayers and support for him. Now Glen our prayers are with you. I know that Roy, Dave, and all of our CADO readers are praying for your full and speedy recovery. While I have never met Glen, I have had several email chats with him about Newbees and training. He was well on his way to becoming the consummate adjuster he strived for. Glen our and my thoughts and prayers are with you. You other guys out on assignment right now, PLEASE be careful on the roof tops. Two horrible falls in less than one year is two too many. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. |
