I recently discovered this Web site. I find the discussion forum very interesting. I have noticed that a lot of individuals will discuss problems opening & some will not. By openly I am referring to making their identity known or not. To this end I have come to a few conclusions concerning the question of anonymity. Due to the nature of being an independent contractor (IC) we are exposed to the industry of insurance carries & adjusting firms business practices . To this end both the carries & adjusting firms would prefer a forum such as this forum simply not exist in the first place. As IC's we are not suppose to discuss anything regarding any involvement or experience we have with any carrier or adjusting firm. Being in this profession everyone from time to time will have a very negative experience with a carrier of a firm. More often than not the adjuster has no way of discussing his or her problem with their piers. That is way this forum appears to be very good because it provides an avenue for IC's to vent their frustrations, voice individual opinions, discuss a problem and ask questions. However, beware disclosure of your identity could have serious consequences on your status as it pertains to being called for assignments. Don't forget that this is a free & open Web site & anyone, yes anyone, including the carriers & adjusting firms are more likely than not observing the discussions & creating individual activity files for future reference. Therefore, privacy in all matters should be of upmost importance while participating in an open discussion forum such as this. While this discussion forum appears to be very good it could be made to be outstanding by eliminating the identity problem. This could be resolved by setting up confidential user names much in the same manner as a chat room is done. Then maybe real in-depth discussions could take place with more individual participation which in the end will be more beneficial to all concerned. Signed; Concerned Adjuster |

As one of your "piers" I disagree. |
