Well, as a favor to a friend and hopefully to provide some insight to our USA adjusters, here is the "skinny" on what our professon is like in the UK, (thats United Kingdom or England, Ireland, Scotland) for those that are unfamiliar. You may be pleasantly suprised at the aspects of another counties views. http://buzzard.csu.man.ac.uk/student/cidd/profiles/327.htm#money |

JIM and EVERYONE: This is absolutely suburb reading and without a doubt the exact things we have been preaching. To quote from the text of the address: "Claims ARE the insurance business" and "Many insurers have failed to recognize that no service providor can stay in business purely as a supplier of last resort" This article IMHO, should be read and comprehendeed by every adjuster, claims manager, vendor company and carrier. IF we are to survive , the changes neccessary to that must be implemented as quickly as possible. |

"THE FUTURE OF LOSS ADJUSTING. THE BRAVE NEW WORLD OF CLAIMS." This is the title of an Address which was given by A.J.Lund ACII, FCILA on February 9, 2000 in London to the Insurance Institute of London. Mr. Lund is the Chairman of Cunningham Ellis & Buckle. He gives us the overviews and analysis of a distinguished and long standing insurance practitioner from the London market who sees the future in much the same way we do here in the U.S., especially as catastrophe adjusters. One comment from his address struck me: "More capacity brings more competition and destabilizes any marketplace. We have seen this in the insurance industry generally, and in the adjusting profession, where there are now fewer firms offering a wider range of services to ever more exacting customer requirements in a contracting market with new competition and a falling price." To read and learn more about what the future may hold for adjusting, the address in its entirety can be found at http://www.iilondon.co.uk/pdf/alund.pdf In my opinion, it is well worth your time to read and ponder the questions he leaves with the reader. |

Spoke to Dane at Northern Adjusters on Friday afternoon, (2-11) for about an hour. He advised that while the avalanches did destroy some homes there were less than 10. The wind storm in that area inflicted only minor shingle damages, and all of the claims were being handled "in house." They do not have the need, at the present, for any additional help in his office and he is one of the largest adjusting firms in Alaska. Extended him an invitation to vist CADO and to become aware of the availability of posting on the Bulletin Board in the event that he may require assistance. |

has anyone found anything positive about the wind and snow problem in Alaska? I went as deep as possible in the Alaska state page and found it was declared a diaster by the governer and the ins. director declared it a catastrophe so adjusters from the other 49 could come in to help on claims but was not able to find adjusting cos.in Alaska and i know there is at least one because i have had contact with it in the past. |

It is our sincere belief that our "world" is now as large as your "town/city". And shrinking. Your participation will exhibit our commitment to making CADO-2000 the premier internet locale. |

True to the facts again. This was the largest catastrophe to strike the continent of Australia. I was aware of it within 24 hours and opted to seek employment there. Having contacted every one of the e-mail listed adjusting firms and also the larger intercontinental firms, (some of which have USA bases), there was no response. Furthur investigation, revealed that you must be of sufficient means and have been approved by the government to enter into gainful employment in Australia. NO different maybe than our own "green card" but somewhat more stringent. ( Oh, dont forget your passport, if you are interested in work outside the USA) The facts are, 1)The storm was known about, 2) Attempts were made to go to work. 3) The information is available. The web presence in Australia is no where near that of the US but is gaining rapidly. All of the weather reports and local information is redily available to those that seek it out. With continued education, a global marketing effort and international co-operation, CADO may become a world- wide presence. |

Here's something to think about: On April 14, 1999 a severe hailstorm hit the Sydney, Australia area with widespread damage. Residential claims were in excess of 32,000 homes with over 3,000 commercial losses and damage to 43,000 motor vehicles. Total value of damage was estimated by the Insurance Council of Australia (http://www.ica.com.au ) to be over one billion Australia dollars (US $650 million) making this storm event the largest insured loss event in Australian history. Of the 11 largest Australian Insured Losses for the years 1967-1998, 4 were cyclones, 1 was earthquake, 1 was a brushfire, 1 was thunderstorm, and 4 were hailstorms. For more information on the April 14, 1999 hailstorm including costs, damage maps, and other data, please visit the storm website: http://www.aonre.com.au/html/body_hailstorm.html And I'll bet they needed some well qualified adjusters from other countries to help out. IF - ONLY - WE - HAD - KNOWN (Get my point?) |

Will the Soviet Socialist Republic of California be considered a foreign country? Thats what I heard an Arizona adjuster call it. Also, from an Insured from Colorado whose property taxes just went up. |

WELCOME TO CADO! We hope this site will become YOUR site as well as the site for North American catastrophe insurance adjusters. Dave Hood and I are targeting our "foreign friends" to invite them to join with us here on this website to share common concerns and ideas which transcend borders, continents, and language barriers. In so doing, we are sending out hundreds of email invitations for our international friends to come take a look at CADO 2000. While you are here, take time to look around. Search our Forum Archives. Leave us a post here on the Forum Page. Tell us about yourself and how you do your insurance work in your country. Ask us any questions you may have. Share your thoughts of the future as well. We are glad to have you here and we welcome your input as well as your ideas and questions. For our regular CADO readers here in the United States and Canada, as well as some of the foreign visitors we now have, in our efforts to reach out to the international community we are doing some specific "target marketing." We are attempting to identify property adjusters, claims representatives, and insurance personnel in other countries to make them aware of this site and it's resources. We will be doing even more marketing in the days ahead, and we will be welcoming more international visitors than we have ever had before. Each time we reach out and reach another friend in this industry, no matter where they may live or which language they may speak, we improve the lot of each of us and all of us. Please join with me in welcoming our new international friends aboard this, THEIR SITE too. Welcome to the International CADO 2000 website - THE WEBSITE for your INSURANCE CLAIMS AND PROPERTY ADJUSTING RESOURCES on the World Wide Web. |
