just wondering if anyone had some pics of hail damaged shingles and roofs?   I'd like to be able to identify the difference between deteriorated shingles from age, rain, wind, as opposed to shingles being destroyed by hail. I've been working wind claims strictly for the past month, and don't know what my next assignment will bring, but if I get thrown into hail claims, I'd like to be prepared to at least somewhat know what to look for.

    Thanks much!

    Roy,
What are you doing up so late? Don't you have better things to do? Just checked your profile, was surprised that you have only been a member since 2006. Gosh, it sure seems you have been around here a little longer than that. Hehe. Anyway, hope all is well.
No one is absolutely worthless, at the very least you can serve as a bad example.

    Check out Haag
     http://www.haagengineering.com/
they have a field guide that is worth the $$ and they have some PDF docs you can download from the site for free, if you google that topic you will find lots of photos and articles.

I'd like to take that Roof Inspection Course, but it says you have to have 100 roof inspections, and have it documented, that's a shame and a half. That could be a useful certification to have.

    Hi Larry,

We may still have a problem with the clock. Hope all is going well on your end. Things are pretty busy with Ike and Gustav.

    Take Care,

    Roy

Yeah, but per your post at the top of this thread - you are seeking answers.  At this moment in time you are not an expert at identifying hail damage.
It is a good thing that Haag has high standards.  People that have been certified by Haag have to meet certain standards.  You will work up to meeting those standards.

You can buy the book from Eberls: What's What of Wind and Hail by Jason Wilson. Lots of good pics in that book- more pics than in the Haig books. Cost: about $25 or so. Eberls number is (303) 988-6286.
