Or better yet, just pick up some shiny salvage from your next claim for a lot less than what you'd spend at a jeweller. What honey don't know won't hurt her[:D]. |

I used to have this framed behind my desk way back when I wuz a "real" adjuster working staff auto and property claims. I lost it somewhere along the way and I thank you for providing it again. I'm gonna email it to my admin manager on this cat I'm working just to see what the reaction is.
Thanks again and Amen! |

A real adjuster is one who can and does make decisions on there own, stands behind them right or wrong. Is willing to learn and applies what he learns to his future assingments with speed, accuracy and knowledge. He has compassion, is honest and sincere. Is bound by his own definition of honor and is loyal to his God, his family and his employer. Doesn't back down, doesn't run but stands up for what he believes in. He is known by many, has many friends from the different places he has worked. Helps those that need it expecting nothing in return. Any time you see him he has a smile on his face and twinkle in his eye. In the morning when you see him in the mirror you will know what he looks like too. |

A real adjuster... hmm.
I think that an adjuster is a person who can listen to the insured with a single goal in mind: Let the claim speak for itself.
What I mean by that statement is that a good adjuster takes the information given by the insured, compares it with what they are seeing, factors in their experience on prior claims of that type and flavors it with a dash of common sense.
Just because some tells you that the damage must be due to a covered cause of loss because their neighbor had a claim like it does not make it covered. I have always said that people are at their very best when it comes to their own self-interest and will state anything that they feel will advance their claim. (i.e. partial information, not stating that their stupidity caused the loss, puffing the value of items)
A real adjuster tries to not allow the fears and prejudices of the insured get their goat. A real adjuster settles claims fairly, promptly and will look at new information with a fair eye. A real adjuster will handle their claims in such a way that they can sleep at night. A real adjuster admits their mistakes and rectifies them as best as possible. A real adjuster helps their fellow adjusters.
These are the goals that we strive for everyday and what I have been aiming for 12 years now... |

Real Adjuster???????????????
I don't have a clue what a Real Adjuster is. Now I know what a Sub adjuster is, what a cub adjuster is, what a Jr adjuster and a damn adjuster is because I have been called all those. But a Real one?
Yes, a fake adjuster too. I've heard tales about them and know a few legends but to be a Real Adjuster, is something to aspire to, to desire.
Seriously, if those in our industry don't already know what a real adjuster is, I'm not sure they would understand when told.

Thanks, I have read those posts, and have not found this information. In an effort to "understand" the lingo of this site I posed this question. I was also under the impression that this was the CAT ADJUSTER forum. Is their a definable difference between a real adjuster and a real cat adjuster?
I was hoping to eliminate my confusion since i thought a professional adjuster was someone who completed their assigned claims fairly, accurately, and on time, regardless of the scope of the damage.
Forgive my ignorance for asking, I see do not speak the language, since I thought this was the general forum to ask all questions. If this is not the correct forum for asking these types of questions please point me in the right direction. If you or some could so kind as reply with link to the answer I would be appreaciative, and informed.
I guess another question I have is why do some of the adjusters have such negativity toward former roofers becoming wind adjusters?

If I offended I apologize. But the point is that an adjuster is an adjuster. A Cat Adjuster is a real adjuster. Before I went on CATS, I did hail, wind, water, flood and all other claims I could get my hands on. I simply did those claims within my appointed territory.
The only difference was in location, magnitude and numbers. Now I do soley CATS, but I am still a real adjuster. If you do claims, you too are a real adjuster. Sometimes we are called Claim Representatives, Claim Specialists, General Adjusters, Senior Adjusters etc. All of these are real adjusters.
If you get out there and do real claims, whether it is full, partial or appraisal, it is still real work and important. I say Hoorah to all the adjusters out there. |
