Message to Gouin L.: Vale National Training Centers has an excellent 3 week class in casualty adjusting (I know, having taken it myself). You can find out more by going to their website at http://www.cunninghamlindsey.com/NEW/service/train_serv_index.html or by telephone at 1-800-233-7095. The AIC 36 Textbook or class is also a casualty educational program worth consideration and you can order it by calling their toll free telephone 1-800-644-2101. If you need additional information, please feel free to email me with questions. |

I am a new resident to Minnesota. I have successfully passed the Fire and Allied license. However, I am having trouble with the Casualty Adjuster test. Coming from Canada the laws are completely different. Can you suggest some training. Also, I am planning on opening up my own business very shortly. Are there any other requirements I need other than my state license. Can you also provide me information on CAT 101. Thanks for your help. |

Dan, it will make it easier for readers to respond to your request if you will tell us what you are doing now and a little about your background. Also where are you located? |

I have added information to Cat 101. Remember that Cat 101 is just my rambling, but it is free. Maybe it will help a newbie and assist in avoiding expensive mistakes. |

KUDOS for the "CADO 2000" Seminar, held in an easily accessible location, and hosted by the vendor companies, supported by the booth space from those companies, and the software and hardware vendors, a real "convention of sorts". Perhaps with some exceptional speakers, and as already suggested, some classes on the various products. Absolutely wonderful idea, and correct timing. You have my total support, and hereby offer any assisitance that may be required to "Pull it off". |

Here is a good article regarding first contact with insureds that might be helpful to Trainee Adjusters. The composition was published in Claims Magazine August 99 edition. Because of copyright, I can only provide the web page link. http://www.claimsmag.com/Issues/August99/ten.html Charlie J. |

Apparently Dale Brassfield is teaching courses. His post is on the bulletin board. In regard to some type of course, primarily aimed at newbies, should the course be free. I would consider teaching, but the problem is when and how and where. |

The idea of a CADO seminar in the spring of 2000 sound like a great idea. In addition to the software suppliers attending it would be worthwhile to have reps there from the various Vendors so they could evaluate us and we could evaluate them. Would also suggest a session on ethics. |

What about a CADO 3-4 day educational seminar next Spring (2000) Leonard? Perhaps with CADO sponsorship, we could have various classes (DDS, Xactimate, FWIA, NFIP, etc.) all under one roof somewhere? Any thoughts from all you CADO readers? |

Chuck, add my cudos to the others. The result of the considerable time and effort you spent will be well used, and appreciated, by new and exprerienced adjusters alike. As a thought, Cat 101 would be a good framework for an expanded "curriculum" here in the CADO pages. That is what I came looking for in the first place, way back when. Hmmmm---CADO U? Chancellor Roy? Dean Chuck? Ah, the mind just runs amuck. Back on subject--thanks again for an excellent effort! |

Several people asked for a copy of Cat 101. Some people did not include their e-mail address, if you don't get a copy e-mail me again and I will try again. Another problem is that I changed from Eudora to Outlook Express, trying to save disk space, and frankly, I don't know how to use Outlook Express. |

Chuck, Wanted to let you know that the piece you put together on Cat 101 was a very informative piece on your part. I would like to commend you on your efforts personally. I know the majority of the new adjusters will be appreciative of it. Very well done and a great way to give to others. |

EVERYONE SHOULD EMAIL CHUCK FOR HIS CAT 101. I received it this morning and can tell you, it is chock full of great ideas and resources. He has one of the most comprehensive lists of adjusting firms, complete with addresses and phone numbers, out there. Thanks Chuck for your hard work in putting together an excellent package and your willingness to share it with others. |
