Just reading the board and thought maybe we could get a useful topic going. As all of us who recently visited Miami this fall rediscovered having a working knowledge of another language would be useful. A large part of our work area is the southeast and gulf coast which both have a large and growing hispanic or spanish speaking population, but there is a lack of adjusters who are able to serve this population base. One solution would be that the cat companies as part of their staff have available a person who could at least aid in setting up the initial contacts so that the insured could have someone present to translate for them. Another and one more likely to happen is for the adjusters to learn spanish. Along this line does anyone have access to information on home study courses that work that they could share with the rest of us? Other suggestions?
