Buddy Holly, et.el crashed after taking off from the Spirit Lake, Iowa airport. The crash was about 30 miles N/NE from my home. How is that for [dating] myself? I remember the night quite well.

Actually, Buddy Holly was from Lubbock, Texas. Big Bopper was from, I believe, Beaumont, Texas. Richie Valens may have been from the east area of Los Angeles. I think Madonnas new version of 'American Pie' is a perverse travesty of Don Mcleans original masterpiece!

I thought Buddy Holly was from Tulsa, OK.

Wasn't he?

Older Than Dity- Out here we use mesquite to cook with. OKC could not come close to our flavor. Its a pleasure to your taste buds. Abilene is ONLY 155 miles east of us. You might have to pack a sack lunch to get here from there. Buddy, Big Bopper and Richie V. What about that age?

The boss (wife) doesn't mind me on the road as long as i'm sending money home lol.
But if the call comes I will try to plan to reach
Odessa before I ship back north. Maybe there be some work in Abeline.
If the food is anywhere near as good as it was in OKC I would be happy.... (even if my artieries aren't). I could also get to see the home of Buddy Holly. Hows that or dating myself.

Older Than Dirt - I hope you saw where I said I would buy you a real Texas Burger from Texas Burger if you get to Odessa where we have them. Thought that was an invite from me. I know, we need a storm big enought to get you down here. Would you consider just making the trip for the sensational view we have out here?

Tom there is room for both. There are many serious threads and you should start one on that topic. Meanwhile, let us enjoy our fun. As for the occasional outpatient who gets nasty, they are a part of life and I ignore them. Meanwhile like so many I am still at home, waiting to see if I get an invite to try those texas burgers.

My wife has always told me that I am too serious about things, and I agree. I, however, will never accept or condone belittling any one person, entity, or state. Fun is fun, but sometimes it gets out of control. I can laugh at myself and others, as well as events. We all need to be able to laugh at ourselves, for preservation purposes.

I get serious because my wife and I, and most adjusters, pay huge sums of money for hospitalization, E&O coverage, and many other inflated expenses while working. I would like to see some action on the part of members of CADO to stimulate conversation and create a way for all of us to reduce our burden of expenses. Anybody got any ideas to help reduce our expense burden. How about a CADO invoked group plan for members only, inclusive of hospitalization, disability, E&O, etc.

In Arkansas they practice Safe Sex by painting an X on the female sheep. Sheep there have such good ears they can hear the sound of a zipper on a pair of 901's a mile away.

Tom I have a tremedous respect for you, but this time I disagree. We have a serious job and deal with people under stress (including supervisors).
Then we sit at home and starve waiting for others misery to provide our income.
We need a little humour, I believe this is an important function of this site

Oh boy, here we are again. Such stimulating material located on an excellent web site, designed to help each other. I have many adjuster friends from Texas and they accept me as their friend, even though I and my wife are from Arkansas. When I last researched it, there are adjusters from all 50 states. It just happens that Texas is the larger state, therefore containing more adjusters as a necessity to population and density.
Give it up boys and girls. You are wasting space on this web page. Got something inspiring and informational that will help us all, then post it. I feel like I am on the Jerry Springer show when I read some of these demeaning posts.

What disapoints me most is the lack of originality. All those short form and system generated reports reports are slowing down your creativity.

Ghost have lots of cold air, am arranging for it to head south!!!
I never make fun of people I don't like.
I like to think I can laugh at myself.
This thread was set up to have a few chuckles while we await for the pleasure of mother nature.
I hope that Dallas calls us all, and if you see me in a bar wearing my older than dirt shirt (dirt orange in color) I'll be happy to buy you a beer. And maybe someone will buy me a texas burger

Ghostbuster- My sense of humor runs full speed all the time. Life's to short to get upset over little things. Why let the postings bother you, sometimes, you just have to consider the source of the text and move on. I did get a little excited one time in my life but that was when people were shooting at me back in the late 60's.
Smile and keep going don't you know.

MKDCO,
Thanx for keeping your sense of humor with Older than Dirt. This waiting for a marching orders is making me more than a little antsey & irritable. Yes, I've been thru this many times before.
Tell ya what, Older than Dirt, I'll pump up some more Gulf moisture if yawl send down a cold front and we'll have them collide over Oklahoma and Arkansas. Whaddya say to that?

And I thought the State (yard) Bird of Texas was the pink plastic flamingo which is in all the Texas front yards.

Older than dirt - Its like being from New York state. Out west, you can understand them but in NYC, it requires some effort to understand what they are saying. Language of their own don't you know. Yard Bird ? Down in the southeast part - Houston ship channel area, they call them sea gulls down there. Out west, It's road runners. Their evveerrwwhheerree. Up north I guess it would be meadowlarks, over east hoot owls, because of all the trees and in the middle of the state, must be where the yard bird stays.
Texans don't have a problem understanding each other. It's just the out of staters that have the problem. Shucks, we can't go anywhere in the country without them knowing where we're from.

So what your telling me is that Texas is Balkinized and not even Texans can communicate with each other! Explains a lot. Then what part of Texas has the Yard Bird as it's National bird

Older than dirt - Which dialect do you what to learn. We are SO BIG that the language is different from one end of the state to the other, Going both north to south and west to east. Pick a location and we'll try to guide you in the right direction.
