I was on the storm that Vince got hurt on. It was a difficult assignment. Almost everything 2 story or more! No one story houses have been allowed to be built on Padre Island in about 20 years. I had hurt a knee on a three story 8/12 pitch roof and had other personal problems so I left the storm a few days before this accident occured. I spoke to A.W. Marshall the other Catadjuster on the storm today 8/10/00. He said Andy the local Crawford Adjuster had hurt his jaw and had other mostly minor injuries. He said Vic had broken both arms, had broken ribs and had a punctured lung. In addition exploratory brain surgery was required. I certainly hope Vic is well and have emailed him my feelings. The wind was brutal most days in addition to the heat and humidity. Ladders needed to be tied when possible so one could just get down. If we have a hurricane in Texas it is going to be very, very difficult for TWIA to handle claims in a timely manner based on their current policy and requirements of adjusters!
