I have been watching and reading the news and it looks like this Texas winter storm is turning into a major event. One news article reported that the Insurance Council of Texas reported that this event will be "Largest Insurance Claim Event In History". In another article it reported that USAA is reporting more than 10,000 related claims. And in a Press Release Governor Abbott issued a disaster declaration in all 254 counties, deployed resources throughout the state, and ordered the Texas State Operations Center (SOC) to expand its daily operations to 24-hours a day.
Some articles related to this event.
Article form Insurance Council of Texas
"Agents and adjusters are responding to policyholders, and additional claims personnel are making their way to Texas to help in what may be the costliest winter weather event in the state's history. Frozen pipes bursting, auto accidents caused by icy roads, and other storm-related damages are set to impact the insurance industry in a significant way." Link to article
