I am a former State Farm Staff adjuster (now independent working mostly SF assignments) w/ 12 years (thousands of completed claims) of experience, licensed in TX, FL, GA, MI, & NC. I applied for my Minnesota Lic 8 mos ago by mailing in my app, Tx P&C lic test scores and $50.00 only to be denied a Minn lic 2 months later.

When I called their office I was told that my 40hr training class choice in Tx did not meet their criteria for their lic.

When I asked what classes were recognized I was told that they could not provide me with that information.

When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told that that I was not allowed to but with 1/2 dozen phone calls I was finally provided this opportunity.

When I spoke with a supervisor I was informed that further consideration for giving me my licence would be provided if I would simply submit a copy of the licensing test and answer key that I took in TX. When I informed thid supervisor that this type of information is carefully protected and not given out to students, I was quickly informed that I had no recourse but to submit anothert 40hr class completion certificate for further consideration w/no guarantee that it would be accepted because (once again) this person would not provide me with a list of any approved P&C lic.  programs.

Three months after this conversation I recd my $50 fee back in the form of a Minn DOI check that I was told was uncashable by my bank when I attempted to deposit it due to an incomplete routing #. When I called Minnesota back to address this problem (you guessed it), I was told that there was nothing that they could do to help me.

I am asking any of you out there who know somthing about this subject to please comment on anything that you midht deem as helpfull in getting my Minn. P&C license.

My husband and I applied for MN license in March 2006.  We only had to provide proof that we were licensed in another state.  We had FL & TX non-resident at the time.  Our home state did not require licensing.  I put our applications and a check for both licenses in the same envelope.  He received his about 30 days later.  When I hadn't received mine in 60 days, I called and got a run-a-round similar to what you have described.  They finally found my application and said they would send it right out.  After 2 more calls, I think I finally got it in August  or September 2006.  I don't know why they are asking you for that test info unless they have changed the requirements since then.

I know this isn't any help.......I just want you to know I understand your pain!

P.S.  I think if it was me, I would put my whole experience in writing and send it to the MN insurance commisioner's office with a copy of the un-cashable check.
