Has anyone else noticed that campgrounds are becoming less and less adjuster friendly?  Yes you can stay in this spot for a week then you have to move to another spot  for 3 days then you will have to move to a spot for 4 days with no full hookup, then we are booked for a weekend so you must leave completely

all because some reservation clerk leased a spot for 2 nights and refuses to change em around

anyone find a RV park  in or near Omaha

We are in Omaha and thought about bringing the RV.  The only park I could find was Tomes and, although he said he had spaces, he would not give us a reservation.  He said you just had to show up and then he'd let you know because he "wants to see what he's getting."  He asked what type of RV we had and I said "Bounder."  He said "They're junk!"    We decided to stay in a hotel for this storm.  Wasn't about to spend the $ to get our "junk" here and then have to stay in a parking lot!  Good luck!

Wish I could afford your "junk".

I'm stuck with an ol' cheap Dutchmen.

I'm sorry to hear that you are getting type of reaction in Omaha.  I lived there for over 20 years, and apparently you found the scum which is actually pretty hard to find in Omaha.  Here's a couple o' tips...on the east side which is actually Council Bluffs IA, they have an RV park at the Bluffs Run Casino (but I think it may have changed names recently), and that's where all the RV'rs park during the College World Series that just got over in Omaha.  On the west side (you probably drove right past this, Swink), and this is out of city limits...but it is by the Ashland/Gretna exit, which is the furthermost SW Omaha suburbs.  I can't remember the name of it, but it's on the north side of I-80 by the truckstop & weigh station maybe around exit 430??  Granted, it is a few miles out of Omaha, but depending on your work, maybe a lot of it is on the south & west side.

Not to mention that you all probably hit the "campers" that left the city to travel 20 miles for the 4th of July weekend.  I feel your pain!  If it were me running one of those places, I'd be like the owner of a hooker hotel (or a massage parlor)...who's gonna be here a while & keep bringing others in??

Larry, I'm sure you could afford it.   Mr Tomes wasn't that far off the mark.   It's a 1992 but it still runs!   And Mike, we have been very impressed with Omaha and the people we have dealt with so far.  It's a really nice city.  I mentioned to Nelson about the RV park at the casino and he said "no way."  I think he's afraid I wouldn't get any work done.

Sharon Lee and I have stayed at a couple of casino RV parks and have found them to be really, really nice.

Except for trees. I don't know why but it seems none of them we have stayed at have any trees.

What's up with that? Don't tree-huggers play cards or slots?

Other than that the amenities are as good as any RV park we've been in.

Happy Trails

Kim it seems more and more RV parks have many spots that you can reserve and are first come first serve. I think in part they are geared more to tourist and not work campers. While it would not be ideal you could stay at Wal-Mart a night or two while trying to stay get into a park.

Larry casinos do not want you "camping out" in the RV park but at their tables.

Another area to consider when traveling to a site for work is regular trailer parks vs RV parks. I have stayed in these when a couple times when no RV parks were available close enough to claims, the RV parks close were full or the only ones in the area wouldn't take us because of our dogs. The spaces in the regular trailer parks are generally bigger then RV sites, although most are not geared to easy back in.I've never had to change any electrical or plumbing to adapt to the spots I stayed in, but have heard of a couple people having to do it. That cost is usually only a couple hundred dollars at most. This is an option to think about especially in the larger cats where you have a lot of displaced people staying in the RV parks, plus a lot more outsiders coming in like FEMA, all kinds of contractors, etc.

I know I am late posting but, what I look for in a place to park my Motor Home is a lot where someone has had a Mobile Home and now it is no longer there. Water. electric & sewer is all there and it is usually level.
