Do CAT adjusters file their tax returns as a self-employed person?        If you have a w-2 should you only file as single, married, etc and use the business expense form 2106?         thanks for your help

You're asking adjusters accountant questions. Go to a CPA.

       Everyone's scenario is different.

The answer is Yes...NO.....Maybe..... As the first answer says, each adjuster has a different situation, sometimes different from year to year. 2 years ago I was 100% 1099, last year some 1099 some w-2, this year 100% w-2, next year who knows. I have an accountant who sorts it all out and keeps me out of trouble.

The answer is the same as in adjusting, you want to pay the IRS every dollar you owe them & not a dollar more. If Independent, do get a professional to do your taxes. You can be making money doing what you know how to do & letting someone else do what they know. One good extra claim can pay for your tax preparations.
