Its the nature of the beast Guy. If you aren't in the top 5% of the IA. for a vendor you are out of luck right now.

I use to be on the top for a major vendor and always got called first took 7 years off to stay home raising my family. I have been trying to get back in it since last fall and have only had 1 deployment.
I just talked to a friend who has been in it for 30 years now and he has had 1 hail storm this year.
I thought w/ over 11 years past experience I would have a shoe in . That is not the case. Some of the companies have been hiring new adjusters and paying them 40% and pocketing the difference. I guess I am over qualified and they figure they would have to pay me more. 40% is a slap in the face not to mention you can't break even .
They will tell you if you have more state licenses you will be deployed quicker. I have 14 different state licenses, multiple certifications for different perils,
I use xactimate, I am certified w/ four different carriers . I am sending out applications almost daily. They don't say it but i am 61 which they figure may be to old I don't know. I have even offered to teach new adjusters for the vendors but to no avail.
Like I said earlier if you are getting daily claims feel very blessed.
