Here is a diagram of a steel building and its components. If you are not familiar with steel building components, review the drawing and read the article. I hope this helps some of you.

Through inspection of steel buildings requires some special tools, a micrometer will help determine gauge, and a knowledge of coatings, air dried and oven baked and the thickness or gauge of the metal.

Butler is a manufacturer of steel building and makes the Cadillac.

The panels are 24 gauge galvalume with oven baked resin coating, front and back. The roof is 24 gauge galvalume with standing seams and the one I inspected had Hurricane clips.

A digital level will assist in determining whether or not the frames are plumb.

A Disto to measure the wall and peak height and the length and width.

If the building is relatively new and the dealer/builder still around...this is a piece of cake.  LKQ, no quarrels and a closed file 1-2-3.  If it's an ACV farm policy, then you might have to dicker a little but still not a big deal.  Very little depreciation involved.
