IKE was a cat 2. I have not left the 1960 area North of downtown but not much roof and exterior damage is visable by windshield. Out door signs are intact. Not what it could have been. Will be thousands of wind claims, but not what it could have been. Extensive flooding from Gulf of Mexico in first tier form Brazoria to middle of Louisiana. Heavy weights will be here 1.5 years. Good adjusters 6 mo. Newbies 30,60,90.days

It's great to see you intact and posting, Ray. I'm still in the cubicle ranch a few feet away from a notorious CADO character (who shall remain nameless...LOL) providing occasional comic relief and an inimitable strength of character and an unflappably positive, if a bit wry, attitude.

The claims and attendant tales of woe coming in from Houston and elsewhere are a bit hair-raising, and the excruciation that folk are enduring just to address the basics of every-day existence is humbling to hear.

Gee, I wonder who that could be?????  Is he wearing 5-buckle overboots & a vinyl bow-tie?  Can't think of anyone more "notorious".

Yep. I am "deployed inside" for a large carrier, and spoke to many homeowners today with trees on their house.  The "member of the household most knowledgeable" was in a line at a gas station and not expected to be home for several hours, while the house has no electricity.

Lots of phones down, you reach then at a cell which is 3rd # listed on the loss notice. The damage extends way north of Houston, the Weather Chanel showed a diagram of hurricane force winds 200 miles wide all the way up to Kentucky in their show last night.
