Adjusting hasn't "dried up", Pilot and Allstate are businesses, this is a capitalist economy and nobody in business hires and keeps anybody that can't or won't do the job. Pilot and Allstate are in this for their benefit.

Should either one apply the "unemployable", go dance in the parking lot, call momma and the kids and get yourself back home as fast as you can haul it. Find a safe job you are suited for.
"Prattling on and on about being an ass with experience doesn't make someone experienced. It just makes you an ass." Rod Buvens, Pilot grunt

Why would you want to be evaluated for a job you're not going to get? That has no work right now? Sounds negative right?
Well there are some of us with over 10 years experience that are sitting home w/ no work. Why would we want you to spend hard earned money to apply for a job where there is no work. Think about it.

The vendors/carriers are getting a real good time to look at all their options. Many people with a license. Many people with no experience. Many people with lots experience. Many old, many young. This is the best of times for the big vendors. I would do the same thing if I was in their position. This is really a very good flush out for the cat. industry. It is really needed.

Think about all the money spent on certs, lics and xactimate training and a dud year. Just think, first of the year it starts all over. This year may clear the heard. I've heard several folks say, "i'm done time to get a steady job". My wife and I are going to start a sideline business of estate liquidation. Seems to be a market here for that. Use the IA business model. Underbid everyone to buy the business.

I think the cat. vendor biz. will get very cut throat with a double edge knife. The fee bills will drop and the vendors will slow pay and change what was passable to not passable. Just to many people looking for too few outside assignments.

I also think more and more losses will be settled by phone, a slippage on scopes will be in each loss. However; a 10-15% slippage is much better if a loss is not reopened by attorneys or roofers on the back end of a weather event .Hurricane Ike in TX. has changed roof claims forever. Over payment on minimal damage is history. People who can work inside on the phones will be the persons in demand.
