exterior door 8' solid alder detach and reset $124.94 (los angeles price list)

solid mahogany panel slab door detach and reset $19.61 (also LA pricing - why is this one so much lower- isn't the labor the same)

DOR X++ Exterior door - metal - insulated / wood - High grade detach & reset $107.54 (DOR X+ is the same price, as it should be...)

    DOR X8+ Exterior door, 8' - insulated metal / wood - High grade detach & reset $124.94

probably the 8' door is more because it is heavier and might have an extra hinge pin to knock out

for a double entry door you could double it but actually it could be a little bit more labor than double if adjustments are needed to align the two doors to each other.

making two doors line up is not that easy but if you are just removing the pins everything "should" go back like it was. If you are removing the hinges along with the door it gets trickier because it might need shimming or adjustment, its normal to find a piece of thin cardboard behind a hinge, used to shim it into alignment. Also if the hinges are painted and you remove them that is going to need touch up.

I assume you are just talking about knocking the pins out of the hinges and setting the door aside.

but not all hinges have pins that can be knocked out.

check out this website from a very large neighborly insurance company that shows hinges that have pins that don't come out:

If you are talking about removing the jambs etc that is a whole other project as you probably know.

First let me start by apolgizing, I should have been more clear in my post on what I was attempting to accomplish.  I am attempting to remove and reset jamb and all.

    Thanks again,

    Jason
