Just a heads up for any and all working claims in IA with out of state plates. I had a good run of five months here this year and have been pulled over twice by the Motor Vehicle Enforcement division of the State Troopers. Note: I drive a dually that is registered to me( to pull my very large RV) with a ladder rack. The first time I was ignorant of the law and told the officer that I was here working. He detained me for a full hour while he did a full safety inspection and asked me dozens of questions. He said that I was in interstate commerce and wrote me up for not displaying DOT's, which I don't have anyway. I really don't want to get into that gray area because it would be kicking a dead horse.

The second time I was a bit more educated on the law and stated that I am here on vacation. 60 seconds later I was on my way.

So, if any of you find yourself in this situation in, I guess any state, best to say that you are on vacation and the ladder is for washing the RV.
