I have done fire (property) claims for SF (Ike 2008) but I have 20 years experience in all aspects of the car business including body shop work/ownership so writing auto claims would be nothing new to me.

How does the money compare in property vs. auto? What about the amount of deployments? Length of deployments? Is it commission or dayrate or both? What are the #'s like for % or day rate? Do guys get "pegged" as an "auto" guy or a "property" guy and only get deployed for one after a while? Can you be available for both and switch back and forth?

    Thanks!

My experience is that auto is about 1/2 the pay and deployments are 1/3-1/2 of the property assignments. On the daily claim side, there is no comparison, auto assignments pay a range from $30-$85 depending who you work for, and they want it done yesterday. I do both, there are times I'm happy to have the auto claims just to have something to do, but I prefer property. As far as being pegged one or the other, you can always say no to a deployment on auto.
