Just heard from an adjuster who has been in Tenn for 2 months. Last week an adjuster was shot to death in a motel/hotel parking lot when he fought for his lap top computer. No name or vendor known. The murder was in Jackson, Tenn  ** Tim Johnson posted the adjuster survived and he was working for Natiowide. Bad injury.

Maybe another title to this story should be... "Be aware of where your sidearm is when you stay out of town in unfamiliar areas"

It is awful what happened to this adjuster and could happen to just about any traveler across the country. I hope that the cops catch the perpetrators of this crime and they pay with their lives.

Ray, from your mouth to the ears of ANY field adjuster.  All must be aware that while they are out there attempting to assist and comfort the policyholder, there are also those that prey on the adjuster and their possessions.

I have been broken into (3) times in the past 5 years, loosing 2 laptops, several camers, a printer and lots of software. That being the case, i bought and installed a 4' x 4' stainless steel safe in the rear of the vechile, in which i keep the tools. Lots of them.

In addition , as you said, the location of the requisites, Louisville Slugger, 300,000 volt tazer and other necessities is always at the fingetips, IYGMM.

Please, ALL of  the field people, staff or independent, CYA, cause no one else will do it.

As my attorney said many times, I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Can you imagine what it will be like if NOLA gets hit again? It would be downright dangerous to work down there again.

Ray, I tried to get the article up for you before but for some reason the Jackson Sun website was down when you initially posted. I have now located it:

    http://www.jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs...002/NEWS17

This article indicates he was a Nationwide adjuster out of Florida. The article doesn't say he died so it's very sad to learn from your post that he did. Have you heard anymore on this? Does anyone know if he was Nationwide staff or an independent handling Nationwide claims? It goes without saying everyone has to be so cautious these days while out working.
