Could someone recommend any training courses for a new adjuster? I have my Texas licence, Farmers certification, TWIA, FWIA, have just attended a FEMA flood presentation and will be applying for flood certification. I am interested in courses that you might consider employment critical as well as general knowledge courses.
It has also been suggested that I learn several software programs. I know Xactimate, and would be interested to know what software State Farm, USAA and other major insurers prefer/require.
Thanks for any suggestions.

USAA requires Xactimate. They also require that you are certified which is a simple two page test that anyone with any knowledge of construction and insurance can pass. You must also work through one of their vendors which are: Reid Jones McRorie and Williams, All Cat, or Renfroe. Hope this helps and good luck in your pursuit... |

Roy, I'm just starting in the soft ware programs, I attended the course for Xactimate and one lecture. In the next couple of months I hope to concentrate on the others. Over the past year it seems some companies are switching, so this means we need our toolbox full of software programs. I am going to try getting proficient or at least get a basic knowlege of the most popular. I have been hitting the books for almost a year now full time, right at 11 months, it is hard for me because this forum is my primary class room. I would like to attend Vale and some of the others, but have other irons in the fire. Hang in here Roy, you will get your feathers singed once in a while but it will be worth it. I ask some really dumb questions sometimes and make some stupid comments and I chalk it up as learning when this crowd jumps on me. Good luck. |

Farmers uses Xactimate. Newt, you make it sound like the whole crowd here at CADO jumps on you at once. Usually it is just one or two at a time, isn't it? |

Newt, you better watch out.
While you were down in Mobile lollygagging with the adjuster bigwigs and software gurus last week, Ghostbuster up and refilled the tail feather scorcher with a new tank of fuel and someone gave him a new pack of matches!
Who's next?
Do we hear any nominations for new inductees into the 'Scorched Tailfeathers Club'? |

Scorched Tailfeathers Club......funny. Can I assume that if anyone has been around for more than a year, they are sent a membership card automaticly? Somebody please tell me the secret handshake and password and show me the secret door behind the bar that leads to the club house.
In some other posts, I read that M S/B, Powerclaim and Simsol were popular. Any opinion on where to start? |

Roy, the STC is not too funny at the time of initiation; I can say that from my experience when others felt it was my turn a year or so ago. Membership to the STC usually comes earlier rather than later in a person's participation in CADO, when they exhibit satisfactory signs through their demeanour and characteristics of their posts; therefore it is not automatic, but merely fallen into.
The software programs you mention are and were "popular". I refer you to the "Software" forum for other comments concerning those systems mentioned. Don't hit on Deloris when you review the MS/B Integra forum, please. |

Why is everyone picking on me? Roy you better get them asbestos drawers on, I hear Ghostbuster rounding the corner with his flame-a-matic and he is hunting you, or maybe its me. Get in touch with Gale Hawkins and tell him I said give you a one year subscription to Power Claim, then call Integra Claim, DDS, and Simsol and ask for their trial program. Give yourself enough time to work on each one. All of these folks are top shelf, so you will probably make some friends, unless you are like me. Tom, I know they don't always jump on at the same time, but its them cheer leaders I can't stand, except of course Deloris the head cheer leader and I don't care if she does sweat a lot, I still like her. |

Roy, If you meet Jim F and he runs his finger up his nose to the third knuckle before he shakes your hand, you can say you received the secret handshake. It will be too, you wont tell nobody. You gotta be kidding about the club house, our kind don't even get near that Porta-John till all our tail feathers are gone. I dread them pin feathers, thats close to home. |
